Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Naufragados Trail difficult?

The Naufragados Trail is approximately 6.7 km long and features uphill and downhill sections, uneven terrain, and a hike through the Atlantic Forest. It is a moderately difficult activity, suitable for people who are up for a few hours of hiking. Since the experience is private, the pace and stops are tailored to the group’s profile.

Can children hike the Naufragados Trail?

Yes. The Naufragados Trail can be a good option for children who are already able to walk on their own and are used to outdoor activities. The trail takes in the beach, the Atlantic Forest, historic ruins, and various points of interest, which helps make the hike more engaging for them. For younger children, we have a special child carrier backpack available for rent. It can be used for children who can already sit up on their own and weigh up to 22 kg.

What else is there to see on the Naufragados Trail besides the beach?

The Naufragados Trail combines nature and historical heritage. Along the way, we explore the Naufragados Beach area, the cannons of the old defensive system, and the history of Marechal Moura Fort. We can see the lighthouse and Araçatuba Island from lookout points and learn about the shipwrecks and the settlement of Florianópolis’s South Bay.

Is it possible to go swimming during the Naufragados Trail tour?

Yes. Depending on the conditions that day and the group’s profile, we can set aside some time for swimming at Naufragados Beach. Since this is a private tour, the time spent at the beach can be adjusted according to the participants’ interests.

Why take the Shipwreck Trail with a guide?

The Naufragados Trail combines the Atlantic Forest, the beach, historical heritage, and elements related to the settlement of Florianópolis’s South Bay. With a guide, the hike takes on new meaning: beyond the walk itself, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the history of the cannons, the old Marechal Moura Fort, Araçatuba Island, the shipwrecks, and the strategic importance of this region at the southern entrance to Santa Catarina Island. The guide also helps you interpret aspects of the landscape and nature along the way.
